Morrissey Announces New Album,“Make-Up Is a Lie”
Morrissey’s long-awaited return is finally here. The singer has released a new single, aptly titled “Make-Up Is a Lie,” which precedes the release of his new album of the same name. The album marks Morrissey’s return to the Sire label and a reunion with producer Joe Chiccarelli, and is set to drop on March 6th.
A Complex Comeback
The path to this new music has been anything but straightforward. for years, the status of new Morrissey releases has been uncertain. He previously teased two other albums – Bonfire of Teenagers and You’re Right,It’s Time – neither of which ultimately materialized as this current project.
Morrissey has claimed that Bonfire of Teenagers, featuring collaborations with Chad Smith, Flea, and Iggy Pop, was deemed a masterpiece by every major label it was presented to, but ultimately rejected due to his controversial political views.
His last album, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, was released in 2020, and was accompanied by a promotional campaign marked by his endorsement of the far-right For Britain Movement on Fallon.
