Morikawa Wins AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am | First PGA Tour Victory in 2+ Years
Collin Morikawa secured his seventh PGA Tour victory and ended a 28-month winless streak Sunday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, carding a 5-under 67 in the final round and finishing at 22-under 266.
The victory, Morikawa’s first since the Baycurrent Classic in Japan in October 2023, was sealed with a dramatic birdie on the 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links. He finished one stroke ahead of Min Woo Lee and Sepp Straka.
Morikawa’s path to the win was complicated by a lengthy wait on the 18th fairway whereas Jacob Bridgeman attempted a recovery from the beach, ultimately losing his ball to the ocean. Morikawa described walking back and forth to the ocean approximately ten times while awaiting his turn, focusing on staying loose, and warm. He then delivered a 4-iron from 235 yards, launching the ball over the ocean wall and letting the wind guide it towards the green.
“Great field, great leaderboard — looking at it the entire day,” Morikawa said, according to the PGA Tour. “And just to be able to pull off those last two shots, it feels great.”
The win comes after a period of self-doubt and adjustments for the two-time major champion. Morikawa acknowledged being hard on himself and making changes to his team, including hiring a new physio team and adding weight. He stated he added “10 pounds of something,” acknowledging a focus on building muscle.
Morikawa’s recent form had led to questions about his position on Team USA, particularly after a subpar performance at the 2025 Ryder Cup. He reflected on the challenges he faced, asking himself, “how am I going to get out of this?”
Adding a personal note to his victory, Morikawa announced that he and his wife are expecting their first child.
The final round also saw attention focused on Scottie Scheffler, who mounted a significant comeback attempt but ultimately fell short. Morikawa’s victory marks a return to form for the Californian, who had struggled to find the winner’s circle in recent seasons.
