The city plans to take advantage of work carried out on water pipes to rethink the development of rue Saint-Catherine Est. Mayor Valérie Plante announced on Friday that the street would be pedestrian all year round, from Berri to Papineau. [[1]]
The pedestrianization of rue Sainte-Catherine over a distance of just over a kilometer is the result of a consultation which lasted three years, said Valérie Plante. The city will invest 200 million in this project which will be inaugurated in 2030. [[1]]
“I hoped to be able to make this proclamation before leaving,” said the mayor. The village has always been at the heart of my concerns, launched the mayor of the Ville-Marie district for 12 years. So that the village remains the village. [[1]]
The work will be carried out in several phases. the first phase will start in 2026 and will be completed by 2030. the city has obtained the approval of merchants and associations in the district. [[1]]
The city expects 25,000 new households in the district in the coming years. [[1]]
