As the academic year looms, ensuring children are up-to-date with their mandatory vaccinations is paramount. Montgomery County has streamlined this process with a new initiative providing free return-to-school vaccines.

The montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced the program,which offers these crucial immunizations without charge until the end of September,according to a July 16 bulletin.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich highlighted the meaning of vaccines in safeguarding children’s health and the importance of their accessibility. “No family should worry about the cost when it comes to protecting their children from preventable diseases,” Elrich stated.

Available Vaccines:

• Tdap
• Meningococcal (MCV4)
• Meningococcal B
• Human papillomavirus (HPV)
• Chicken Pox

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a Montgomery County resident.
• Must be of school age, from preschool through the twelfth grade.
• Must require a vaccine that is part of the mandatory immunization schedule.
