Monica Guerritore earns top scores for Charleston on Ballando
Italian actress Monica Guerritore earned a standing ovation and top scores from the judges on Ballando con le stelle after performing a Charleston with her dance instructor Luca Urso on October 24, according to reports.
A Flawless Charleston Routine
The performance drew a full set of high marks from the judging panel, including an 8 from Carolyn Smith. Smith had earlier handed host Milly Carlucci a paddle marked 10 at the start of the evening, choosing to save the highest numerical scores for subsequent episodes in the competition.
A Romance Rooted in the Arts
The routine gained added personal resonance from the presence of Guerritore’s husband, Roberto Zaccaria, who watched from the audience. In an introductory video clip for the program, the former Rai president retraced the beginnings of their relationship, recounting that he fell in love with the actress through her professional work before they had even met. Their paths eventually crossed years later, establishing a lasting bond.

Decade-Long Journey to Marriage
Guerritore described the relationship by stating it arrived and never left, continuing to grow steadily over time. The couple first met in the year 2001 and were subsequently married in 2010. Zaccaria noted that they share a blended family comprising two daughters from Guerritore and two children of his own, and explained that they intentionally waited a decade after first meeting before marrying. Guerritore referred to her husband as the love of her life during the broadcast.
