Mohammad Nabi‘s Late Blitz Powers Afghanistan in Asia Cup Thriller
Abu Dhabi, September 18, 2025 – mohammad Nabi exploded in the final over, smashing five consecutive sixes to propel Afghanistan to a competitive total against Sri Lanka in a crucial Asia Cup 2025 Group B clash at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Nabi’s blistering 60 off just 22 balls, including three fours and six sixes, lifted Afghanistan from 120 for seven in the 18th over to 169 for eight.
the dramatic turnaround came in the 20th over, bowled by left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, which yielded 32 runs. Nabi launched sixes over long-off, deep mid-wicket, and down the ground, bringing up his fifty in the process. He narrowly missed equalling Yuvraj Singh’s record of six sixes in an over, managing a single before being run out.
