Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone Season 1 launch with new maps and weapons
The sweeping update rolls out across multiple modes, bringing revamped arsenals and platform expansions to the franchise.
Three New 6v6 Arenas and Arsenal Overhauls
Tactical engagements now span the snowy ruins of Backstab and the tight verticality of Canyon, with additional arenas scheduled to drop later in the season.
The update also introduces the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun through the battle pass. Alongside new iron, weapon balances hit existing gear. The APOC-338 LMG received a reduction to its minimum and headshot damage, while the VEL 46 saw slight range drops. Other firearms, including the Axion and M4, received effective range increases.
DMZ Infiltration and the Possum Perk Nerf
In the DMZ mode, North Korean forces have seized an old Russian facility designated as X01 on the Hajin border. Ghost guides players through the complex, which features changing hazards, intricate tunnels, and a smaller, tighter layout.

The update restricts its use if enemies remain close or if fewer than four minutes have passed, effectively curbing instant revenge tactics after a down.
Warzone Integration and Custom Hardware
Warzone integrates fully with Modern Warfare 4 starting this season, bringing 33 launch and Season 1 weapons, shared progression, and equipment like zipwire launchers and claw drones into the battle royale ecosystem. The new Hajin map serves as the primary battleground alongside the Zodiac resurgence map, with Verdansk and Rebirth Island slated for mid-season returns.
Hardware manufacturers rolled out tie-in products to match the software launch. MSI introduced the GeForce RTX 5080 16G COD MW4 EDITION OC graphics card featuring yellow internal fin coatings and character artwork of Ghost and John Price on the backplate, as detailed by Mobile01. During testing, the card delivered a score of 9,348 in 3DMark Speed Way and 8,629 in Steel Nomad.
Dual-Track Campaign Structure
For single-player campaigns, Modern Warfare 4 utilizes a seven-hour structure mixing linear level designs with open-ended mission choices on Xbox Series X hardware, according to a review by gamelife.tw.

The narrative follows a dual-track approach focusing on a South Korean squad facing a sudden urban invasion and Captain Price’s Task Force 141 hunting Makarov and the antagonist Archer. The campaign transitions from tight indoor breaches to large-scale warfare, though the dual perspectives remain distinct throughout the deployment.
