A new program dedicated to animals, presented in a unique format, has launched in France. Titled “L’Hebdo des Animaux, le magazine de la SPA” (The Weekly of Animals, the SPA Magazine), it will air every Sunday at 11:20 AM on RMC Life, with the first episode scheduled for March 1st, 2026.
The program arrives as animal companionship becomes increasingly prevalent in French households. According to recent data, over 60% of families in France include at least one animal companion, reflecting a growing bond between people and pets. However, this increased companionship is coupled with significant challenges, notably animal abandonment, a persistent issue causing suffering for thousands of animals annually.
The Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA), France’s animal welfare society, initiated the program to address these issues. As the SPA celebrates its 180th anniversary, the show represents a new media platform for the organization to advocate for animal welfare, highlight the work of those dedicated to animal care, and provide a platform for recognized experts. The word “émission,” as defined by the WordReference dictionary, encompasses both a broadcast program and the act of sending or emitting something, fitting the show’s dual purpose of broadcasting information and “emitting” a message of animal welfare.
Karine Ferri will host the program. Ferri is a known animal advocate and owner of two Labrador Retrievers, Bella and Dolmen. She will be joined by Yoann Latouche, who will present a practical segment covering animal behavior, tips, DIY projects, and useful innovations. Dr. Jessica Zoccoli will address animal health concerns.
“L’Hebdo des Animaux, le magazine de la SPA” will adopt a regional focus, with each episode dedicated to a different area of France. This approach will allow the program to showcase the diverse landscape of animal welfare efforts across the country, highlighting the contributions of professionals, volunteers, and enthusiasts.
The inaugural episode, dedicated to Brittany, will feature the story of Alan and his seagull, an inseparable duo in the port of Brest. It will also showcase Louane and her dog Piwi, whose relationship has profoundly impacted her life. Dr. Zoccoli will offer advice on protecting animals during the winter months, and Latouche will provide tips on creating a cat-friendly home environment. Additional segments will include a appear at animal-assisted therapy in nursing homes, an inside view of animal shelters, and a spotlight on Labrador Retrievers.
Episodes of “L’Hebdo des Animaux, le magazine de la SPA” will also be available for replay on RMC BFM Play.
