Modena Second-Hand Market Usatissimo Returns for Fall Edition
The Quartiere fieristico di viale Virgilio is hosting Usatissimo, a second-hand recommerce market where private citizens buy, sell, and trade items without commercial licenses. The event features 500 fully sold-out pitches offering goods ranging from children’s bicycles and rare vinyl records to strollers and vintage costume jewelry, with admission priced at 3 euros.
Floor Space Doubles as Recommerce Attracts Diverse Shoppers
Following a successful debut on March 8 that drew nearly 6,000 visitors, organizers doubled the available floor space for the autumn edition. According to the sources, this growth reflects the broader mainstream appeal of recommerce, which now attracts families, young shoppers avoiding fast fashion, and vintage enthusiasts alike. Social media platforms have helped dismantle old stigmas surrounding pre-owned goods, drawing at least ten bloggers and influencers to scout items for their followers. Families with small children have emerged as key participants, actively trading strollers, car seats, nursery clothing sets, and bedtime storybooks.
Private Individuals Sell Goods at Half Retail Value
Exhibiting at Usatissimo is restricted exclusively to private individuals to maintain genuine pricing and an authentic atmosphere, requiring items to be presented in good condition at roughly half their original retail value. While vintage furnishings, modeling kits, and apparel remain central attractions, electronics such as vintage cameras, retro spare parts, and phones have seen increased presence. The Modena area features roughly forty online trading groups split between Modena and Carpi, successfully bridging digital marketplaces with physical meetups. Organizers said the market’s popularity stems from a blend of waste reduction ethics, the rising cost of living, and a public desire for face-to-face interaction.

Usatissimo Returns for Final Date on December 13
The ModenaFiere event runs Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Usatissimo scheduled to return for its third and final seasonal date on Sunday, December 13.
