Julien, starting at second base, also struck out twice, hitting a ball to left field in his first appearance. The Rangers hosted the Rockies as part of Spring Training preparations.
Elsewhere in Spring Training action, Abraham Toro was unable to register a hit in two at-bats for the Kansas City Royals in their 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Toro played third base in the contest.
Otto Lopez, a player with ties to Quebec, went hitless in two at-bats as the Miami Marlins fell to the Washington Nationals by a score of 16-8. Lopez’s performance came during a high-scoring affair for both teams.
A back-and-forth game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox saw the Blue Jays fall short in an 11-10 defeat. Jays outfielder Eloy Jimenez provided offensive power with a home run and two RBIs, finishing with two hits in three at-bats and scoring twice. However, pitcher Yariel Rodriguez struggled, allowing six runs and five hits whereas only recording two outs.
Recent transactions saw the Rockies acquire Julien and Otto Lopez from the Minnesota Twins, while sending pitcher Chad Billingsley to the New York Yankees in exchange for a first base prospect, according to MLB.com. The Rockies continue to evaluate options at first base, as reported by Sports Illustrated.
