Felicia Bates was reported missing after her family last saw her on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The Adams County Coroner’s Office responded to the recovery site to process the scene. Formal identification and additional forensic testing remain pending.
The Hunt and Barricade in Monroe, Louisiana
During the course of the investigation, Adams County detectives gathered evidence implicating Albert Kendall Washington of Natchez. Officials secured an arrest warrant charging Washington with first-degree murder. Law enforcement tracked Washington to a Motel 6 in Monroe, Louisiana. According to the sheriff’s office, Washington refused orders to exit his motel room and barricaded himself inside. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was deployed to the scene, successfully breaching the room and taking Washington into custody.
Extradition and Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Washington currently remains detained in Louisiana while awaiting extradition back to Mississippi to face the first-degree murder charge. Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten addressed the tragic turn of events in a public statement. “This is not the outcome we wanted, but it is the reality that we now face. We hope that locating Felicia provides some measure of closure to her family and everyone who loves her,” Sheriff Patten stated. He emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities build the case for prosecution.
