‘Miraculous’ Sets Next Bigscreen Feature With John Cohen, Matt Roller
PARIS - Following a 10-year anniversary celebration at the Eiffel Tower coinciding with Mipcom, “Miraculous” is moving forward with a feature film, bringing on John Cohen and Matt Roller to join Miraculous Corp for the project. The declaration was made by Pierre-Antoine Capton, founder of Miraculous Corp, who hosted the event.
The animated series, which debuted 15 years ago, centers on a female superhero and has expanded beyond television into toys, books, fashion, games, and live events. Creator Zag emphasized the initial challenges in bringing the brand to life, noting it was a new IP featuring a female superhero before such characters gained widespread popularity. He also highlighted the series’ commitment to themes of resilience, courage, and identity, establishing “miraculous” as a benchmark in values-driven entertainment for youth.
“A great idea alone is never enough,” Capton stated, adding that “Miraculous” is “a symbol of French creativity.” He expressed gratitude to the talent, studio, broadcasters, platforms, licensees, marketing and sales teams, and especially the female audience who have embraced Ladybug. “Because ultimately, that’s the miracle of Ladybug is that it’s making the world’s heart beat in unison with a cartoon born in Paris.”
Looking ahead, Capton anticipates “the next 10 years will be even more ambitious,” promising new stories, worlds, emotions, and films. Mediawan was also praised as “an amazing partner who gave (Miraculous) a new energy for pushing the brand even further around the world.”
According to Yeatman, Cohen’s “remarkable record of delivering global animated hits and Matt’s rare gift for blending heart, humor, and imagination will ensure our film not only thrills audiences but also deepens their connection to thes beloved heroes.”
