Gophers Men’s Basketball Roster Overhauled with Key New Players for 2025-2026 Season

Minneapolis, MN – The University of Minnesota Gophers men’s basketball team is heading into the 2025-2026 season with a considerably revamped roster, injecting fresh talent and experience into the program. With the exception of returning players Isaac Asuma, Grayson Grove, and Erick Reader, Gophers fans can anticipate seeing a host of new faces on the court. Key additions include Cade Tyson,Langston Reynolds,Nehemiah Turner,and Chansey Willis Jr.,each bringing unique skills and perspectives to the team.

New Additions to the Gophers Roster

Cade Tyson Joins the Gophers

Cade Tyson, who announced his commitment on june 2, is set to play his senior year with the Gophers after stints at North Carolina and Belmont. In his career, Tyson has played 92 games, amassing 993 points with a remarkable 48.3% field goal percentage and 142 three-point shots.

Head coach Niko medved expressed his enthusiasm for Tyson’s versatility. “He’s a dynamic scorer, a true playmaker and a great rebounder,” Medved stated. “Cade is a terrific addition to our program and we can’t wait for him to be a Gopher.” Tyson himself feels a strong connection with his new team, citing the coaching staff as a major draw.

Langston Reynolds Commits to Minnesota

Langston Reynolds, another senior addition, committed to the Gophers on April 14.Reynolds brings a wealth of experience from Northern Colorado, where he averaged 16 points and 5.6 rebounds during the 2024-2025 season. his outstanding performance earned him first team All-Big Sky honors and three Big Sky player of the week awards.

Medved highlighted Reynolds’ athleticism and physicality. “Langston is a physical, athletic guard who plays well in transition, can get downhill and has good rebounding ability,” Medved said. “He also has a great personality, and we’re thrilled to have him in the Maroon and Gold.”

Nehemiah Turner Adds Size and Skill

Nehemiah Turner, who played his freshman year at Central arkansas, is also joining the Gophers. Turner played in all 33 games, averaging 8.5 points and 4.2 rebounds, with his scoring average jumping to 17 points in the final two months of the season.

Turner emphasized the alignment of his goals with Coach Medved’s vision. “I want to go somewhere where I can develop my game and win,” Turner said. “He has put guys in the league and he wins, so it is indeed a no-brainer.” Medved echoed this sentiment, praising Turner’s size, strength, and finishing ability.

Chansey willis Jr. Brings Playmaking Ability

Chansey Willis Jr., a highly-regarded recruit, joins the Gophers after playing at Western Michigan, Henry ford College, and Saginaw Valley State. Willis led the Mid-American Conference in scoring with 16.8 points per game and added 5.8 assists. he also ranked fifth in the league for steals per game with 1.7 and an assist-to-turnover rate of 1.8.

Willis cited a desire to step outside his comfort zone as a key factor in his decision to come to Minnesota. He also praised Medved’s positive influence. “Players need that, you don’t know what we go through outside of basketball,” Willis said. Medved highlighted Willis’ dynamic scoring and playmaking abilities.
