Thai Public Health ⁢Ministry Adjusts Compensation for Hospitals in ⁢Challenging Areas

Bangkok,Thailand – September 23,2025 – A recent directive from the Thai Ministry of Public Health (MoPH)‌ has altered the ⁣list of⁣ hospitals eligible for additional compensation due to the⁤ difficulties‌ they face in resource management. The changes, formalized in a letter signed by Permanent Secretary⁤ Dr. Opas ⁤Karnwinpong on September 22, 2025,‌ remove three hospitals⁣ from the designated list, impacting ⁢financial support for their staff.

The announcement,⁣ officially titled “Announcement of⁢ the Ministry of Public Health regarding the list of service units under the‌ Office of the permanent‍ Secretary‍ of the⁢ Ministry of Public Health in accordance⁤ with the rules, procedures and conditions for payment, compensation, allowances ‍for staff operating ‍in⁤ the service unit under the Ministry of Public Health, 2025,” stems⁤ from a review of the existing compensation framework established under the 11th edition (f. 11) of relevant regulations.

Specifically,‌ the MoPH has rescinded the designation for Thepparat‌ hospital (Nakhon Ratchasima), Pak Chong Nana‍ Hospital,‍ and Nang Rong Hospital. These hospitals were previously ⁤recognized as operating in “difficult area in resource management A,” a classification that entitled them to ⁣performance-based compensation⁢ as outlined in the 2001 (no. 11) and 2016 regulations.

The removal from this list means‌ these hospitals will no‌ longer ‍receive⁢ the supplemental compensation previously provided. The ⁢changes ‍will take effect from September 19,2025. The Ministry has⁢ not yet publicly‍ detailed‌ the rationale ⁢behind this decision, leaving healthcare professionals⁢ and local ‍communities to speculate on the potential impact.

This ⁢adjustment raises questions about the ongoing⁢ support for healthcare facilities ⁤in regions facing meaningful resource constraints. World Today News will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
