Minecraft World: $70M Theme Park Coming in 2027

Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London will soon be home to a real-world Minecraft experience, with plans for the $70 million “Minecraft World” theme park officially unveiled during Minecraft Live on March 2026. The project, a collaboration between Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments, aims to bring the popular video game’s iconic landscapes, creatures, and items to life for park visitors.

According to a statement released by Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of entertainment at Minecraft, the park is intended to be “a place where you can literally be in the Minecraft Overworld and have an adventure of your own with your family and friends.” Concept art released alongside the announcement depicts wooden structures reminiscent of the game’s builds, as well as familiar elements like Creepers and TNT blocks. A Nether-themed dining area is also featured in the artwork.

The planned park will include “a thrilling world first coaster, interactive adventures, epic block built playscapes, and themed retail and dining,” according to a joint announcement from Mojang and Merlin Entertainments. Specific details regarding the attractions remain undisclosed.

Minecraft World will mark the first major theme park dedicated to the Mojang Studios’ video game. However, the trend of video game-inspired theme park attractions is not new. Nintendo’s Super Nintendo World, featuring attractions based on Super Mario Bros. And Donkey Kong, has already opened in multiple locations globally. Universal Studios has also experimented with video game intellectual property, hosting haunted houses based on titles like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Fallout, and The Last of Us during its Halloween Horror Nights events.

Construction of Minecraft World is currently underway, with a planned opening in 2027. Further details regarding the park’s attractions and features are expected to be released at a later date.
