Minecraft Tiny Takeover Update: Release Date & What’s New in 2026

Minecraft is set to receive a major update on March 24, 2026, with the release of “Tiny Takeover,” a game drop focused on redesigning the game’s baby mobs. The update, arriving as Java Edition 26.1 and Bedrock Edition 26.10, introduces recent models, textures, animations, and sounds for dozens of creatures, according to Mojang Studios.

The update will roll out gradually, beginning around 8:00 AM PT on March 24 for players in the Americas, with staggered release times for Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Players in the United Kingdom can expect the update at 3:00 PM CET, while those in India will receive it at 8:30 PM IST. Japan and New Zealand will see the update arrive overnight, at 12:00 AM JST on March 25 and 4:00 AM NZST respectively.

Central to the Tiny Takeover drop is the introduction of Golden Dandelions, a new craftable item. These dandelions, created using one regular dandelion and eight gold nuggets, will prevent baby mobs from aging, allowing players to keep their favorite miniature creatures indefinitely. Name Tags are also now craftable, requiring only paper and any metal nugget, addressing a potential resource scarcity with the influx of new baby mobs.

Mojang has overhauled the visual and auditory experience of baby mobs across the Minecraft world. Farm animals like pigs, cows, and chickens have received new sounds and updated models. Baby aquatic mobs, including axolotls, dolphins, and turtles, have also been redesigned with brighter colors and altered proportions. Even hostile mobs, such as baby zombies, zombified piglins, and a new creature called the “gurgle,” have been given a makeover, despite remaining dangerous to players.

The update also includes a new instrument for the note block: trumpets. The sound of the trumpet will vary depending on the oxidation state of a copper block placed beneath the note block, allowing for dynamic and evolving musical compositions. Players can also wax the copper block to maintain a consistent trumpet tone.

The Minecraft Live March 2026 presentation showcased the breadth of changes coming with Tiny Takeover, highlighting the developer’s focus on “cuteness” and fostering “emotional attachment with mobs.” Mojang has not yet announced details regarding a follow-up update, or the next game drop.
