Minecraft Dungeons II Announced for PS5, Xbox, Switch & PC | Release Date & Trailer
Mojang Studios and Xbox Game Studios today announced Minecraft Dungeons II, a sequel to the popular action role-playing game, slated for release in Fall 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and the forthcoming Switch 2, as well as PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
The announcement, made during Minecraft Live 2026, revealed a new story set within the Minecraft Dungeons universe. According to Xbox Game Studios, the new installment will feature “never-before-seen regions,” new enemies and a deeper progression system. Players will be able to embark on adventures solo or in co-op with up to three friends.
“A hero’s work is never done! Disorder is brewing, and the world stands before a threat unlike any other,” reads a description released by Xbox Game Studios. “A new danger is growing in power, ready to descend upon the land and unleash mayhem. Return to the world of Minecraft Dungeons in an all‑new action RPG adventure, brimming with high-stakes encounters, thrilling challenges, and never-before-seen locations, as you set out to save a world in crisis.”
The original Minecraft Dungeons, developed by Mojang Studios and Double Eleven, launched in 2020. Minecraft Dungeons II will again be developed in partnership with Double Eleven. The PlayStation Store listing confirms online play will require a PlayStation Plus subscription and that the game supports up to four online players. The game will also feature accessibility options including clear and large text, color alternatives, high contrast visuals, directional audio indicators, and controller remapping.
While a specific release date within Fall 2026 has not been announced, the game is currently slated to launch alongside the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.
