Probolinggo, east Java – A new initiative by the Probolinggo District government is providing free warm milk and boiled eggs to residents, aiming to improve community nutrition and promote healthy eating habits. The campaign, launched Friday at Mantong Market in kalirejo Village, Dringu Sub-district, is spearheaded by the Probolinggo District Agriculture Office (Diperta).
Diperta Head arif Kurniadi stated the program’s primary goal is to “provide additional nutrition to the community while raising awareness about the importance of consuming healthy and nutritious food in daily life.” Residents warmly received the offering,wiht many expressing hope for regular,expanded events.
The government plans to hold the program at least monthly, according to Kurniadi, as a step towards ensuring better community nutrition. Nikolas Nuryulianto, Head of the Livestock Health and Veterinary Public Health Division of Diperta Probolinggo District, explained the campaign supports the government’s broader strategy to strengthen local food security.
“Milk and eggs are two essential sources of nutrition that are easy to obtain and have many health benefits,” Nuryulianto said. “We want to ensure that the community, especially those coming to the market, can access nutritious food.”
The initiative underscores the Probolinggo District Government’s commitment to food security and public health, demonstrating how local efforts can substantially impact nutritional well-being and encourage healthier lifestyles. Indonesia is also pursuing a national roadmap to achieve milk sufficiency by 2029 and is targeting dairy cattle imports from Brazil, Mexico, New Zealand, and the US.
