Miley Cyrus Announces Engagement to Maxx Morando
LOS ANGELES, CA – Pop superstar Miley Cyrus is engaged to musician Maxx Morando, confirming months of speculation. The singer displayed a gold and diamond ring on her finger at the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles on Monday.
The three-time Grammy winner revealed the proposal occurred during a recent trip to Asia, describing her surprise to Good Morning America on wednesday. “I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation and I had completely surrendered and I’m telling you, I was so, so, so surprised,” Cyrus said. The engagement marks a new chapter for the artist, following her previous marriage to actor Liam Hemsworth, which ended in divorce in 2019 after a decade-long relationship.
cyrus, known for hits like “Flowers” and “Party in the U.S.A,” met Morando through a blind date, as she shared in a 2023 interview with British Vogue. Morando is the drummer for the Los Angeles-based band Liily, which previously performed on Cyrus’s Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party alongside Dolly Parton and David Byrne in 2022.
“Me and Max have been together for four years and it’s very obvious the drastic amount of growth that I’ve had in those four years,” Cyrus told Good Morning America, adding, “You want to have someone by your side that always tells you you can do it.”
Despite a triumphant year that includes her ninth album release and a featured song, “Dream as One,” in the latest Avatar film, Cyrus has stated she has “no desire” to tour, citing concerns about maintaining her sobriety and mental health while on the road.
