Mike Vrabel Thanks Patriots Fans – Viral Video 2026

February 10, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, ousted Jerod Mayo after a single season as head coach, then quickly hired Mike Vrabel, a move that signaled a dramatic shift in the organization’s direction.

The decision to remove Mayo, who had been designated as Bill Belichick’s successor, came after a disappointing season, prompting Kraft to seek a more experienced leader. Kraft stated he felt a “chemistry” with Vrabel and believed the former linebacker possessed “all the different factors” necessary to succeed, according to reporting by Chad Graff of The Athletic.

Vrabel’s arrival marked a swift and comprehensive overhaul of the Patriots’ coaching staff. He immediately dismissed Mayo’s assistants, all of whom were first-time coordinators in their respective roles – defensive coordinator, offensive play caller, and special teams coordinator. This purge underscored Vrabel’s intent to establish his own system and bring in seasoned professionals.

The hiring is particularly notable given a prior disagreement between Vrabel and Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk. According to a report from Music City Miracles, Vrabel had advocated for Ryan Cowden to be the Titans’ general manager following the firing of Jon Robinson. Adams Strunk instead hired Ran Carthon, a decision that ultimately preceded Vrabel’s departure from the Titans. The Patriots’ owner, Robert Kraft, ultimately granted Vrabel the level of control Adams Strunk had not.

Former Patriots players have long recognized Vrabel’s potential as a head coach. Rodney Harrison, a former safety who played alongside Vrabel, told USA Today Sports that he “saw the future” with Vrabel years ago, describing him as a “player-coach” who was always prepared and unafraid to challenge coaches. Richard Seymour, another former teammate, echoed this sentiment, noting Vrabel’s high football IQ and leadership qualities.

Vrabel’s rapid success with the Patriots, culminating in a Super Bowl appearance in February 2026, has validated the faith placed in him by Kraft. The Patriots’ turnaround, from consecutive 4-13 seasons in 2023 and 2024 to Super Bowl contenders, is a testament to Vrabel’s ability to rebuild a team quickly. The Athletic reported that no team in the 21st century has experienced such a swift resurgence.

The Patriots are scheduled to face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 60 on February 9, 2026.
