Microsoft June Patch Tuesday: 200+ Vulnerabilities Patched and Critical Kernel Flaw Fixed

June 11, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Microsoft on Tuesday addressed 206 security vulnerabilities in its Windows operating system, including 33 critical flaws that could allow attackers to remotely take control of devices without user interaction, according to multiple reports. The update, part of the company’s monthly patch cycle, includes fixes for a range of issues spanning software components, kernel-level exploits, and system management tools.

The most severe vulnerability, identified as CVE-2024-30122, resides in the Windows kernel and enables threat actors to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges, according to Golem.de. The outlet noted that the flaw does not require user action to exploit, making it particularly dangerous for unpatched systems. Microsoft has not yet disclosed the specific systems affected, but the vulnerability has been linked to the company’s recent focus on securing core operating system functions.

Other critical fixes address remote code execution risks in Windows 11’s network stack and a privilege escalation flaw in the Windows Server operating system, as reported by T-Online. The latter issue, tracked as CVE-2024-30119, could allow attackers to bypass security controls and gain administrative access to server environments. Microsoft has not commented on the potential impact of these flaws beyond its standard advisory language.

The June 2024 security update also includes 200+ fixes for less severe vulnerabilities, according to ComputerBase, which highlighted a CPU performance optimization for Windows 11 users. The patch cycle, described by PCGH as the “most comprehensive in years,” includes improvements to the operating system’s handling of memory management and driver compatibility. However, no details were provided about the specific performance gains or affected hardware configurations.

Security researchers have emphasized the urgency of applying the updates, particularly for organizations using outdated Windows versions. “The combination of remote execution risks and kernel-level exploits creates a high threat vector for targeted attacks,” said a cybersecurity analyst at a European research firm, citing the Golem.de report. Microsoft recommends users enable automatic updates or manually install the patches through the Windows Update service.

The company has not announced any known attacks exploiting the vulnerabilities as of yet, but the release comes amid heightened scrutiny of software supply chain risks. The latest patches follow a series of disclosures about zero-day flaws in Windows 10 and 11, raising concerns about the long-term security of legacy systems. Microsoft’s next scheduled patch day is set for August 2024, with additional updates expected to address emerging threats.
