Michigan Rallies to Defeat Nebraska in Thrilling 30-27 Contest
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The #21 University of Michigan football team secured a hard-fought 30-27 victory over Nebraska Saturday,fueled by explosive plays and a dominant defensive second half.The win improves Michigan’s record to 3-0 on the season.
Donovan Edwards became the first U-M player since himself to record three rushing touchdowns of 50-plus yards in a single season, achieving the feat with runs of 67 yards (at Penn State), 75 yards, and 85 yards (at Ohio State). Jordan Marshall added to the offensive firepower with a career-long 54-yard touchdown run. It marked the first time since a 2022 game at Penn State that two different Wolverines-Corum (61 yards) and Edwards (67 yards)-recorded 50-plus yard rushing touchdowns in the same game.
quarterback Bryce Underwood contributed a 37-yard touchdown run, the longest by a U-M quarterback since J.J. McCarthy’s 39-yard run against TCU in the 2022 CFP semifinal (which was not a scoring play). Underwood’s run was the longest touchdown run by a U-M quarterback since Dylan McCaffrey ran for a 44-yard score in 2018.
The Michigan defense stifled Nebraska’s offense in the second half, limiting them to 98 yards after halftime. Linebacker Cole Sullivan intercepted a tipped pass from Jyaire Hill, setting up a U-M touchdown. Sullivan’s interception was his second of the season and the sixth by a Wolverine defender. Jayden Sanders recorded his first career pass breakup. Oklahoma remains the only team to score a rushing touchdown against Michigan this season, holding Nebraska to 43 rushing yards on 31 attempts (1.4 yards per rush), improving the Wolverines’ season average to 2.6 yards per carry.
Kicker Dominic Zvada was perfect on all three field goal attempts from 46, 56, and 21 yards. The 56-yarder matched his career long and extended Zvada’s record to 8-of-8 on 50-plus-yard field goal tries as a Wolverine.
