November 4, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

A 46-year-old Cypress resident died on November 2, 2026, after a vehicle fleeing Tustin police crashed into the car she was riding in at the intersection of 4th Street and Golden Circle Drive in Santa Ana, according to Carrazco Law. Michelle Lynn Boston later died from her injuries following the 9:55 p.m. collision, which involved three occupants in the struck vehicle and led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Downey man.

The Fatal Collision at 4th Street and Golden Circle Drive

Tustin police officers pursued a vehicle traveling north on Golden Circle Drive toward 4th Street on the night of November 2, 2026. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the fleeing vehicle entered the intersection and struck a westbound car occupied by three people. The impact prompted a request for assistance from the Santa Ana Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority.

Emergency personnel transported two occupants of the struck vehicle to a local hospital. Boston, who was a passenger, later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have not released the condition of the second hospitalized survivor or the status of the third occupant. Officers arrested the driver of the fleeing car, identified in reports from Quadratín California as 21-year-old Andrew Raul Gonzalez of Downey, at the scene and booked him into the Santa Ana Jail.

Unanswered Questions in the Tustin Police Pursuit

The sequence of events leading up to the fatal intersection crash remains under active investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigation Unit. Local authorities have not disclosed what initial violation prompted Tustin officers to initiate the pursuit, nor have they released details regarding the duration of the chase, the speeds involved, or whether the fleeing driver sustained injuries.

Legal liability in police pursuit collisions often involves multiple jurisdictions and complex statutory frameworks. Under Section 23153 of the California Vehicle Code, driving under the influence and, while doing so, committing an act or neglecting a duty that causes injury to another person is prohibited. Section 1714 of the Civil Code generally holds any person responsible for injuries caused by a lack of ordinary care, and Section 17001 of the Vehicle Code generally holds a public entity liable for injuries or deaths caused by the negligent operation of a vehicle by an employee acting within the scope of employment.

The Legal Advocate noted that nationwide data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded 577 deaths during police pursuits in 2022.

Santa Ana Police Seek Witnesses to Golden Circle Drive Incident

The Santa Ana Police Department asks anyone with information regarding the incident on Golden Circle Drive to contact Detective K. Briley at (714) 245-8215 or the Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200. Families affected by pursuit-related fatalities typically coordinate with legal counsel to secure evidence and protect the rights of grieving families. According to Section 377.60 of the Code of Civil Procedure, a spouse, domestic partner, children, and other relatives may generally bring a wrongful death claim.

Pending the conclusion of the investigation, surviving family members may evaluate potential wrongful death claims under California law to address economic and emotional losses resulting from the crash. Legal professionals dealing with similar motor vehicle accidents emphasize that prompt independent investigation remains essential for preserving crucial evidence and protecting the rights of grieving families.
