Michaela Schumacher’s Rodeo Houston Debut – March 2026
Hayden Welsh, a rookie bull rider, has qualified for the 2026 RODEOHOUSTON finals, marking a significant achievement early in his professional career. The competition, a key event on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuit, will culminate in a championship round with $65,000 awarded to the winner, along with a custom saddle and belt buckle, and an invitation to compete at the 2027 RODEOHOUSTON.
The 2026 RODEOHOUSTON, running from March 2nd to March 22nd at NRG Stadium, features a tournament-style competition across eight rodeo events: bareback riding, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, women’s barrel racing, and women’s breakaway roping. The Super Series format consists of five three-day series, followed by two Semifinal rounds, two Wild Card rounds, and a final Championship round.
This year’s event also showcases a diverse entertainment lineup, announced January 8th, featuring both established artists and rising stars. Performers include Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Lizzo, and Kelly Clarkson, alongside newcomers like Russell Dickerson and Shaboozey. McGraw will be making his eleventh appearance at RODEOHOUSTON, while Bryan, a Star Trail of Fame inductee, will perform for the thirteenth time.
The RODEOHOUSTON Super Series offers a total payout of $2,533,500. Each of the eight event champions receives $65,000, in addition to winnings accumulated throughout the preceding rounds. The event is an official PRCA NFR money event, meaning earnings contribute towards qualification for the National Finals Rodeo and the PRCA World Standings.
The competition structure is designed to be highly competitive. Each Super Series advances the top four money winners to the Semifinal rounds. The Semifinals then send the top four athletes to the Championship, while the remaining six compete in Wild Card rounds for a final chance to qualify. Only one athlete from each Wild Card round advances to the Championship, joining the ten competitors vying for the title.
Chris Boleman, president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Reveal and Rodeo, stated that the 2026 lineup “raises that standard once again,” reflecting a commitment to providing both Western heritage and a broad range of entertainment options for the Houston community.
