Michael Saylor Hints at New Bitcoin Purchase for Strategy

Michael Saylor Hints at New Bitcoin Purchase for Strategy

October 11, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Strategy holds 848,000 bitcoin valued at $70.48 billion following a series of corporate treasury acquisitions. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor signaled potential further purchases on October 11 through a social media post featuring an orange graphic tracking the firm’s accumulation milestones.

The latest market speculation follows an acquisition of 334 bitcoin completed between October 1 and October 4. That purchase cost $28.7 million, inclusive of fees and expenses, translating to a purchase price of approximately $85,839 per coin. That single-transaction average outpaced the historical cost basis across the company’s entire digital asset holdings.

Financing Strategy Relies on Equity Sales and Cash Reserves

Strategy funded the early October purchase using a dual-stream capital allocation model. The firm raised $15.7 million through the sale of new MSTR common stock shares. It covered the remaining $13 million using available dollar-denominated liquidity from corporate reserves.

This operational framework brings the cumulative declared cost of Strategy’s historical digital asset acquisitions to approximately $63.97 billion. The average cost per bitcoin across all 117 transactions sits at approximately $75,441.

Obligations to Creditors Shape Treasury Allocations

Beyond digital currency accumulation, Strategy must maintain substantial dollar reserves to satisfy fixed corporate liabilities. These obligations include preferred stock dividends and regular interest payments due on the company’s outstanding debt instruments.

As of October 4, the company maintained $4.88 billion designated specifically for these creditor commitments. An additional $833.4 million sat in separate cash accounts earmarked for general corporate needs and potential market acquisitions.

Signals from Executive Communications Drive Market Watch

Market observers monitor executive communications closely due to historical patterns connecting specific social media posts to subsequent purchase disclosures. On October 4, a message reading “More orange than ever” preceded the formal confirmation of the 334 bitcoin purchase, at which point the portfolio stood at 847,666 BTC before the subsequent update. A similar sequence occurred in late September, when Strategy had previously announced the purchase of 950 bitcoin on September 21, followed by a declared additional acquisition of 1,665 bitcoin for the week ending September 27, preceded by a September 27 message about adding more orange.

On October 11, Executive Chairman Michael Saylor wrote There is always room for more orange on X alongside an orange graphic showing orange circles representing operations carried out over time, though he did not directly announce a new transaction. The graphic presented a portfolio of 848,000 bitcoin valued at $70.48 billion, which corresponded to the declared holdings as of October 4, while official confirmation of any new transaction pending beyond that snapshot requires subsequent regulatory filings.
