First footage of Michael Jackson Biopic ‘Michael’ Unveiled, Starring Jaafar Jackson
the first trailer for “Michael,” the upcoming biopic about the life of Michael Jackson, has been released. Directed by Antoine Fuqua,the film stars Jaafar Jackson,Michael Jackson’s nephew,in the titular role. The trailer offers a glimpse into the singer’s journey, from his early days in the studio with Quincy Jones to his rise as the “King of Pop.”
The film aims to provide an intimate look at Jackson’s life and legacy as one of the most influential artists of all time. The release of this footage marks a significant step in bringing Jackson’s story to the big screen, a project long anticipated by fans and industry observers alike.
The trailer opens with a scene featuring Quincy Jones (played by Kendrick Sampson) telling Jackson: “I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this. The tracks are made, the songs are ready. Let’s take it from the top.” It then showcases clips of Jackson’s childhood, iconic performances, and music videos, set to his 1982 hit “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.”
“Michael” boasts a star-studded supporting cast including Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney John branca, Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson, Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross. Originally slated for an October 3, 2025 release, “Michael” is now scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 24, 2026. Production wrapped in May 2024, followed by reshoots. Despite earlier reports suggesting the film might be split into two parts, the trailer indicates it will be released as a single feature.
The film’s synopsis states it “explores the global superstar’s journey to become known to the world as the King of Pop, presenting an intimate look at the life and enduring legacy of one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.” John logan wrote the script, with John Branca, Graham King, and John McClain producing. Justin Simen co-produces, and David B. Householter serves as executive producer.
