Metropolis Comics Launches Alternative Leisure Initiative

Ferrol, Spain – Metrópolis Cómics, a specialty store in Ferrol, has launched “Learn to Play” sessions aimed at introducing latest players to collectible card games. The initiative, which began on Tuesday, February 17th, and will continue every Tuesday at 6:00 PM, focuses on popular titles including Magic, One Piece, Digimon, and Riftbound, according to a statement released by the store.

The program’s current focus is the Pokémon universe, with workshops designed to ease entry for newcomers. Metrópolis Cómics is providing demo decks for participants to use during the sessions and is offering a promotional card simply for attending. “We abandon the deck for you to learn and you take a special Promo envelope just for participating. You don’t have to bring anything, just your desire to learn a new game,” said Manuel Rodríguez of Metrópolis Cómics.

The launch of “Learn to Play” is part of a broader effort by Metrópolis Cómics to promote alternative leisure activities in the city. The store also plans to expand the program to include board games and other forms of entertainment. This expansion follows a trend of increased interest in tabletop gaming and collectible card games, as evidenced by the store’s decision to host a Pokémon “League Cup” this Saturday, February 21st, for experienced players.

Metrópolis Cómics has been a fixture in Ferrol’s leisure scene, also known for its involvement with “fanzines” – self-published magazines for fans – dating back to the late 1970s. These publications historically provided a platform for alternative comics and artistic expression, allowing artists to bypass conventional publishing routes. The store’s current initiatives build on this history of supporting niche interests and fostering a community around alternative hobbies.

Individuals interested in participating in the “Learn to Play” sessions or learning more about upcoming tournaments can contact Metrópolis Cómics at 981 300 416, via WhatsApp at 658 158 646, or through the store’s social media channels.
