Metallica Close to Announcing Las Vegas Sphere Residency
Metallica is reportedly on the verge of announcing a residency at the state-of-the-art Sphere venue in Las Vegas. According to a source cited by The Sun, the deal is “90 per cent done” with only the final contract needing to be signed.
The possibility of a residency has been openly discussed by band members Robert Trujillo, Kirk Hammett, and Lars Ulrich in recent months, with all expressing enthusiasm for the venue and its potential. They see it as a way to utilize modern technology, including AI, to create a “crazy experience” and elevate their production levels.
The Sphere has already hosted residencies from U2, Phish, Dead & Company, the Eagles, and the Backstreet Boys, as well as an immersive 4D version of The Wizard of Oz. U2’s performance received a glowing five-star review from NME, praised for its “dazzling series of technological tricks.”
