Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2: Release Date & What’s Included

February 13, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Konami unveiled a remastered collection of Metal Gear Solid titles for the PlayStation 5 during Sony’s State of Play presentation on Thursday, bringing previously unavailable installments to the current generation console. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will include remasters of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, marking the first time Metal Gear Solid 4 has been made available on a platform beyond the PlayStation 3.

The collection is slated for release on August 27th and is available for pre-order now in the PlayStation Store for $50. Currently, the PS5 is the only confirmed platform for the release, though the possibility of a later release on PC and Xbox Series X|S remains open, mirroring the staggered release strategy employed for titles like Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Konami is presenting the collection as a remaster, not a remake. This indicates improvements to resolution, frame rates, and control schemes, with potential for additional quality-of-life enhancements that have not yet been detailed.

Beyond the two core titles, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will feature digital soundtracks and scenario books for both games. A third, smaller title, Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, is also included. Originally released for the Game Boy Color in 2000, Ghost Babel served as a sequel to the original Metal Gear on the MSX2 and NES, though It’s considered non-canon within the broader Metal Gear storyline.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, released in 2008, concludes the storyline of Solid Snake, bringing an end to the Patriots, the shadowy organization manipulating events throughout the series. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, released in 2010, continues the narrative following the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, focusing on Big Boss’s establishment of his own military faction in Colombia and his confrontation with a rival force developing nuclear-equipped tanks.
