Mercedes-Benz CEO Impressed by Electric CLA 45 Fake V8 Sound

August 27, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius expressed unexpected praise for the artificially generated V8 engine sound featured in the electric CLA 45, according to technology publication LOG. Despite driving a fully electric vehicle, the company’s chief executive found himself convinced by the simulated acoustics during testing.

Automakers are increasingly turning to synthetic audio landscapes to replace the mechanical roar of traditional internal combustion engines. According to reports from LOG, the upcoming electric performance model utilizes digital audio engineering to mimic the unmistakable rumble and acceleration profile of a classic eight-cylinder motor.

The integration of synthetic V8 audio addresses a primary concern for performance enthusiasts transitioning to battery-electric vehicles: the loss of auditory feedback. Industry analysts note that traditional sports car buyers heavily rely on sound cues to gauge speed, gear changes, and engine load during dynamic driving conditions.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced a definitive commercial release date for the electric CLA 45 variant. Development continues on both the powertrain architecture and the specific acoustic signatures designed to replicate high-performance combustion engines within the luxury electric vehicle segment.
