Grocery chain Meny offers significantly cheaper taco ingredients than competitor Kiwi, according to a recent price comparison conducted and published by Nettavisen. The Norwegian newspaper tested a standard basket of Mexican-themed Friday night items to determine which supermarket provides the lowest overall cost for consumers.

According to Nettavisen’s findings, Meny emerged as the more affordable option for the tested taco basket, undercutting Kiwi’s total at the checkout. The comparison examined everyday goods commonly purchased for weekend meals, including tortillas, seasoning, salsa, minced meat, and vegetables, revealing noticeable gaps in total spending between the two major chains.

Price differentials across individual product categories drove the overall gap between the competing retailers, as detailed in the Nettavisen report. While discount supermarkets like Kiwi frequently market themselves on low base prices across entire inventories, the test demonstrates that specific brand selections and package sizes can alter the final receipt total for standard household dinners.
