Navy Men’s Tennis Falls Short Against Top Competition at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE, WI – Navy men’s tennis ⁢faced a challenging weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, unable to overcome⁤ seeded opponents in the tournament held November 3-5. Despite strong efforts, Midshipmen pairs concluded play in the Round of 32 and consolation brackets, while singles competition saw Tommy Kim advance ​to the second round ⁤before being eliminated.

The ​Milwaukee ‌Tennis Classic provides a crucial early-season test for Navy,‌ offering valuable⁢ match experience against a diverse field of collegiate programs. The results highlight areas for improvement as the team prepares⁣ for its dual-match schedule. Several Midshipmen demonstrated resilience,⁢ securing victories in extra matches to conclude the tournament on a⁣ positive note.

In‌ singles play, Tommy Kim opened⁢ with a decisive 6-3, ‍6-0 victory. However, his tournament run ended in the⁢ Round of 32.

Doubles competition saw Jason ‌Kim and ‌Tommy kim fall to Blake Roegner and Remi St. Laurent of ⁢Marquette, 6-4, in the Round of 32. ​Aniketh Ayinala and Charlie ⁢Spencer also dropped their opening-round match‌ against Oregon’s Pierre Mouesca⁢ and William semler, 6-4.

Within the ⁤consolation⁣ bracket, Ayinala and ‍Spencer ⁣were defeated by ‌DePaul’s Andy Hadziabdic and Tobias Leitner, 6-2, while Jason Kim and ​tommy Kim lost to James Madison’s Ryan Morgan and Aurelien Schmitt,​ 6-4. ⁢

Navy rebounded in extra matches, with Ayinala and Spencer defeating Morgan and Schmitt, 7-5. Jason Kim⁤ and Tommy Kim also secured a win, overcoming Hadziabdic ⁤and Leitner, 7-5, to⁣ close out their ‌tournament‌ play.
