EDINBURG,TEXAS - The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Tennis team competed in both a dual match and the UIW Invitational on Sunday,November 2,2025,facing opponents from UT Arlington and multiple schools at the invitational.
UTRGV’s participation in these fall tournaments provides crucial competitive experience as the team prepares for the spring dual match season. These early contests allow coaches to evaluate player performance, refine strategies, and build team cohesion before the higher-stakes spring schedule begins. The results from these fall events inform lineup decisions and individual development plans.
Ivo Isqueiro of UTRGV faced Finbar McGarvey from UT Arlington in singles play at 11:30 a.m. In doubles competition, the UTRGV pairing of Sam Whitehead and Loic Young Kriegel battled Berdullas and McGarvey of UT Arlington.
The UIW Invitational saw several UTRGV athletes advance to championship matches. Paolo Bonaguro competed in the Compass 1 West Finals against Augustin Salazar of UIW at 10:30 a.m.Will Roberts secured a victory in the Compass 2 East Finals, defeating Filip Valcula of Texas A&M university-Corpus Christi at 9:00 a.m.Luke Bishop contested the Compass 3 East Finals against louis bocquet of Our Lady of the Lake University at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, Michael Chan played jacob Gailey of Our Lady of the Lake University in an extra match at 12:00 p.m.
