Rutgers Men’s Soccer Unveils New Crest, Symbolizing Heritage and Campus Identity
Rutgers Men’s Soccer has introduced a new team crest, meticulously designed to incorporate iconic Scarlet Knight symbols and elements representing the university’s rich history and connection to its surrounding landscape. The crest, which will be prominently featured on digital graphics, print materials, and throughout the 2025 fall campaign, signifies a renewed visual identity for the program.
The design prominently displays the primary block “R” in the top left corner, a universally recognized emblem of Rutgers. A stylized sword runs down the center, evoking the spirit of the Scarlet Knights, while the outline of the state of New Jersey graces the top right. The entire crest is shaped as a shield,a traditional symbol of athletic achievement and unity across Rutgers Athletics.
Further embedding the team’s legacy, the crest includes the inaugural season,1938,at its base. The design also pays homage to the local geography, with the Raritan River depicted flowing at the bottom. Bridge piers are incorporated to represent the John A. Lynch Sr. Memorial Bridge, a vital connector between the Busch, College Ave., and Livingston campuses.
“We look forward to wearing the new Rutgers Men’s Soccer crest with immense pride,” stated McElderry, expressing the team’s enthusiasm for the updated emblem.
