Boston University Predicted to Win Hockey east championship
AMESBURY, Mass. – The Boston University men’s ice hockey team has been favored to claim the Hockey East regular-season title, according to a poll of the league’s coaches released Tuesday. This marks a significant expectation for the Terriers heading into the 2024-25 season, signaling their position as the team to beat in a competitive conference.
The Terriers secured seven of ten possible first-place votes – coaches are restricted from voting for their own teams – totaling 105 points. This comfortably outpaced Providence College, which received three first-place votes and 91 points overall.UConn finished third with 90 points, while Maine garnered the final first-place vote and 87 points.
BU’s anticipated success builds on a strong foundation from last year’s team, which reached the national championship game. The Terriers return 12 letter winners, including standouts Cole Hutson, a First Team All-American and the reigning National rookie of the Year; Sascha boumedienne, projected as a 2025 first-round NHL draft pick; and Cole Eiserman, who led all NCAA freshmen with 25 goals last season.
Adding to their already potent roster, the Terriers have welcomed key transfers and incoming freshmen.Reigning NCHC Rookie of the Year Sacha Boisvert, along with senior Owen McLaughlin, joined the program from North Dakota. Twelve freshmen, including five players recently selected in the NHL Draft, will further bolster the team’s depth and potential.
Boston University will begin it’s campaign to live up to these expectations on October 4th,hosting LIU at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
