Trine Men’s Hockey Climbs to National Top Ten
ANGOLA, Ind. - The Trine University men’s hockey team has surged into the national top ten, rising in both major Division III polls this week despite being idle. the Thunder’s ascent reflects results elsewhere in the national landscape, positioning them among the elite programs in the country.
this marks a important achievement for the Trine program, demonstrating its growing competitiveness within the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and across Division III hockey. The team’s improved ranking provides momentum heading into a crucial weekend series.
Trine now sits tenth in the DIII Hockey News poll, gaining 20 points to reach a total of 91. They are just ahead of Utica University, who went 1-1 during their Thanksgiving showcase. SUNY Geneseo occupies the ninth position. In the USCHO.com poll, the Thunder jumped from twelfth to tenth, securing 102 points – a 30-point increase from the previous week - and surpassing Babson College, who went 1-1-1 and are now ranked eleventh.
Four other NCHA teams remain nationally ranked. Aurora University holds strong at second in both polls, while Adrian College moved up to third.St. Norbert College is fourth in the DIII hockey News rankings and fifth in the USCHO.com poll after a challenging week. The Milwaukee School of Engineering continues to receive votes in both polls.
Trine will return to the ice this Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m., hosting St. Norbert College for the first of two NCHA contests.
