ULM Men’s Golf Heads to Houston for Bayou City Collegiate
HOUSTON – The ULM Warhawks men’s golf team begins play Monday at the Bayou City Collegiate, hosted by rice University at Westwood Golf Club.This tournament marks the second fall competition for ULM,following a strong second-place finish at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.
The Bayou City Collegiate features a competitive field of 15 teams, including Rice, Houston, LSU (competing as an individual), adn fellow Louisiana programs Abilene Christian, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, and Ragin’ Cajuns. The 54-hole tournament will be played over three rounds, providing a key early-season test for the Warhawks as they prepare for their fall schedule.
Westwood Golf Club, established in 1928 and the second-oldest private golf club in Houston on its original location, underwent a redesign in 2002 and further renovations in 2018. The course has hosted U.S.Open local qualifying tournaments, presenting a challenging layout for the collegiate competitors.
ULM will field a lineup of Louis Anceaux, Amilkar Bhana, Dakota Cunningham, Theodor Berg, and Caden Lester. Mason Comeaux will compete as an individual.
At the Sandestin Collegiate Classic,Amilkar Bhana led the team with a fourth-place finish,carding three sub-par rounds. Louis Anceaux also delivered a strong performance, finishing in the Top 15 with an overall score of -4. The team finished second of 13 teams with scores of 277-278-281.
Following the Bayou City Collegiate, the Warhawks will travel to Little rock, Arkansas, for the Everett Buick/GMC Collegiate, beginning October 13.
