Meghan Markle‘s Father Undergoes Emergency Amputation in Philippines
MANILA, Philippines – Thomas Markle Sr., father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is in intensive care after undergoing emergency amputation surgery in the Philippines, his son, Thomas Markle jr., told the Daily Mail. The 81-year-old’s leg was amputated after developing a blood clot that rapidly caused his foot to turn blue adn then black, according to his son.
“I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger,” Thomas Jr. said. “They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the center of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery.”
The surgery lasted three hours, and Markle is scheduled to undergo another procedure to remove a blood clot. “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death,” thomas Jr. added. He has asked for public support, stating, “I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts.”
Markle and his son reportedly moved to the Philippines in May.He has experienced several health issues in recent years, including two heart attacks and a major stroke in 2022. In October,he publicly refuted claims he was left stranded following a 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu.
Thomas Markle Sr. and his daughter Meghan have been estranged since 2018, the year she married Prince Harry, son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana.
