Meghan Markle Shares First Glimpse of Family Life After UK Return

September 13, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The Duchess of Sussex has shared a 34-second video on Instagram featuring Prince Harry, seven-year-old Archie, and five-year-old Lilibet following the family’s return to the United Kingdom.

Inside the 34-Second Instagram Footage

Interspersed with UK flag and heart emojis, the video shows Archie running toward deer while Lilibet rides a bicycle. Another segment features Harry fishing with the children alongside the family’s dogs. The visual record marks the first time the Duchess has posted her family on her Instagram grid since relocating back to Britain.

Weather elements in the clip reflect seasonal shifts, as a pair of waterproof boots steps into a puddle following a wet start to September in the UK, which experienced its hottest summer on record. While the children appear in waterproof footwear heading toward the wildlife, their faces remain obscured, continuing the parents’ practice of photographing them from behind or hiding their features.

Logistical Relocation and Canine Additions

The family’s relocation involves more than human members. A spokesman for the Sussexes said last month that their dogs, Mia and Pula, were brought along for the move. A black Labrador retriever adopted by the couple several years ago appears multiple times in the newly released video sequence, according to the sources.

The Duke and Duchess stepped back as senior royals in 2020 to begin a new life in the United States. Following their return, they will live in Britain as non-working royals without returning to official duties. It is thought the family will base themselves at a private property outside London in the Cotswolds area, where Archie and Lilibet have been enrolled in school.

Recent Correspondence and Royal Status

The return coincides with administrative clarifications regarding the couple’s official status. Last week, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess stated that the couple was surprised by a letter sent by the Prince’s father, King Charles III. The spokesperson noted that the couple “were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance,” according to the sources.

The letter, dispatched on behalf of the King by the Lord Chamberlain—a top Palace official—explicitly spells out the non-working royal status of Prince Harry and Meghan. The communication clarifies that they remain private citizens and will not be permitted to use the titles of “His and Her Royal Highness.”
