New University Entrance system Sees High Enrollment Numbers Nationwide. Minister Bernini highlights renewed investment in construction and ordinary financing funds as universities report notable interest in medical and dental programs.

As anticipated, enrollment numbers have seen an increase compared too previous years. Initial projections suggested a significant surge, which has largely materialized as students finalized their first tuition payments for university registration. In Rome, over 7,000 students have registered. Bologna follows with 3,385, while turin has 3,169 aspiring doctors. Milan has seen just over 5,000 registrations, Florence has 1,766, and Bari reports 2,725.
The Open Semester Structure
The new open semester,commencing September 1st,will feature three core subjects: Chemistry and Biochemistry,Physics,and Biology.Each subject will award 6 credits for a total of 18 credits upon successful completion. At the conclusion of the open semester, students will undertake profit exams for all three subjects. These national exams will be standardized and administered together across the country. students will have two opportunities to take each exam: the first on november 20, 2025, and the second on December 10, 2025.Each exam will consist of 31 questions per subject, with 15 multiple-choice questions (each having five options, only one correct) and 16 fill-in-the-blank questions. A 45-minute time limit will be allocated for each test.
National Ranking Criteria
Scores achieved in these individual exams will contribute to the formation of a national ranking, with results expressed in thirtieths, including the possibility of commendation. To be eligible for the national ranking, students must achieve a minimum score of 18 out of 30 in each of the three exams. Essentially, students must pass every exam.Those who do not qualify for the second semester but have achieved a minimum score of 18/30 in each exam will be permitted to continue their studies in a similar, chosen course for which they also enrolled concurrently with medicine, without incurring additional costs and with full recognition of earned credits.
