Cancer Rehabilitation Strategies by Disease

March 23, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

Seoul Asan Hospital recently hosted the inaugural International Cancer Rehabilitation Symposium and the International Lymphatic Forum, bringing together nearly 470 experts from four countries to address advancements in cancer rehabilitation and lymphatic disease management. The events, held over a two-week period beginning March 13th, underscore a growing focus on quality of life for cancer survivors and the importance of specialized care for lymphatic conditions.

The first International Cancer Rehabilitation Symposium, held on March 13th, featured four sessions focusing on a global integrated strategy for cancer rehabilitation, disease-specific rehabilitation approaches, the development of evidence-based rehabilitation programs, and the future of cancer rehabilitation driven by technological innovation. According to hospital officials, the symposium aimed to highlight the increasing significance of rehabilitation throughout the entire cancer treatment journey.

Following the cancer rehabilitation symposium, the inaugural International Lymphatic Forum took place on March 20th. During the forum, Jeon Jae-yong, head of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at Seoul Asan Hospital, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of lymphatic disease research and international academic exchange. The hospital stated that both events were initiated to share the latest knowledge and development directions in cancer rehabilitation and lymphatic disease management.

The Korean Society for Cancer Rehabilitation (KCSR) has also been actively involved in promoting awareness and research in the field, with recent announcements regarding the World Lymphoedema Day on February 27th and international academic events hosted by the Seoul Asan Hospital Rehabilitation Medicine Department on February 11th. The KSCR’s stated mission is to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and develop specialized rehabilitation programs.

The increasing attention to cancer rehabilitation and lymphatic disease management comes as cancer survival rates rise, placing greater emphasis on post-treatment care and managing the physical and psychological effects of both the disease and its treatment. The National Cancer Center in Korea is scheduled to host its 17th International Symposium on June 18, 2025, continuing the focus on advancements in cancer care and research.
