Measles Cases in Mexico: State-by-State Data (Feb 2026)

Mexico is battling a growing measles outbreak, with 7,168 confirmed cases and 24 deaths reported as of January 19, 2026, according to the Secretariat of Health. The surge in cases has prompted a nationwide reinforcement of vaccination efforts, including the administration of a “zero dose” vaccine to bolster immunity.

The current outbreak initially surfaced in February 2025 in Chihuahua, where a significant proportion of infections were linked to incomplete or absent vaccination records. Data indicates that over 90 percent of confirmed cases involve individuals with no prior vaccination history.

Authorities have observed that severe cases and fatalities are disproportionately concentrated among young children, individuals suffering from malnutrition, and those with compromised immune systems.
