Matt Mecher Returns to His Alma Mater
Standing inside the school gymnasium where he once spent his time watching riders, Mecher noted the personal milestone of returning to perform. “I used to literally sit here and daydream about riding, wishing there were ramps in here, and this is turning into a full-circle moment, being able to come back and perform for the school I attended for the cause I care about,” Mecher said, according to The McHenry Messenger.
The bikers aimed to instill hope through their athletic routines, connecting with students who might be experiencing bullying or self-esteem challenges. “I was definitely picked on for having a different passion than most,” Mecher said. “Everybody played football, and what I was into is different. I was able to make something out of it. I hope to inspire somebody else to do the same.”
