Mazabi and Gencom Acquire Rosewood London and InterContinental Miami
Mazabi, operating as the Family Office vertical of Atalaya Asset Management, has partnered with American investment group Gencom to acquire the Rosewood London and the InterContinental Miami hotels. The cross-border transaction brings 960 total rooms into the acquisition, marking a substantial step in Mazabi’s international asset diversification strategy.
Capital Channeling Through a Spanish Vehicle
Mazabi channeled approximately 75 million euros through a dedicated Spanish vehicle to fund participation in the dual-hotel acquisition. This investment sits within a broader deployment of nearly 200 million euros executed by the firm over the preceding 12 months, a deployment spanning four hospitality assets across the United States and the United Kingdom alongside 19 serviced apartments located in Paris.
The Rosewood London features 308 rooms housed within a Grade II listed historic building situated squarely between the West End and the City. Originally reopened in 2013 following a comprehensive transformation and subsequently refreshed between 2022 and 2023, the property is slated to receive fresh capital injections directed toward ongoing maintenance, aesthetic updates, and facility enhancements.
Physical Improvements and Brand Continuity Across Properties
The InterContinental Miami provides 652 rooms spread across 34 floors, supported by extensive food and beverage outlets and 35 dedicated meeting and event spaces. Positioned in Downtown Miami adjacent to the maritime waterfront and the Brickell financial district, the property underwent its most recent renovation cycle in 2023 and will now undergo further modernizations to upgrade its interior spaces and streamline operational efficiency.
Both hospitality assets will preserve their current brand identities under the Rosewood and InterContinental flags. Planned operational updates are engineered to strengthen long-term competitiveness and build sustained asset value.
Portfolio Scale in North America and European Expansion
With the integration of the Miami asset, Mazabi and Atalaya now control more than 1,500 rooms across participating hotel properties in the United States. This footprint builds directly upon prior investments in the InterContinental New York Times Square and The Ritz-Carlton Central Park.
The London acquisition adds to a portfolio that already encompasses eight separate investments in the British capital alongside two prospective opportunities currently held in the company pipeline. Parallel operations continue across Paris and Amsterdam under the overarching strategy of Atalaya Asset Management. The firm established Atalaya Hospitality as its primary specialized hotel sector vertical, operating in a strategic alliance with Summum Hotel Group to pinpoint targeted investment and management opportunities.
