The International Tennis Integrity Agency reduced Purcell’s subsequent sanction by 25 percent in recognition of his cooperation and substantial assistance. Peers such as John Millman and Jordan Thompson, his US Open-winning doubles partner, publicly supported him throughout the process, emphasizing that the infraction was completely unintentional and involved no prohibited performance-enhancing substances.
