Former WWE Star Maven Embraces Content Creation, Says He’s “Perfectly Fine” With Stepping Away From Wrestling
Maven, winner of the 2002 Tough Enough competition and former WWE Superstar, has shifted his focus from professional wrestling to content creation and is content with the change. In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Maven revealed he now identifies more with his YouTube work than his in-ring career.
The wrestler explained a recent encounter at a grocery store underscored this shift. “Normally somebody comes up to me [and says] ‘You’re that guy who won Tough Enough.’… I had somebody come up to me and say, ‘You’re that guy that talks about wrestling and answers questions on youtube, aren’t you?’ And I was like, I suppose I am,” Maven recounted.
Maven acknowledged the physical demands of wrestling have changed and that he is at peace with no longer competing at the same level. ”I’m okay with ageing. I’m okay with I just can’t do what I used to do, and I’m okay with advancing into just the next parts of my life. I’ve watched these guys now. They’re so much more athletic than I was, and obviously am now. Yeah, I’m perfectly fine with not being a wrestler anymore.”
While Maven hasn’t entirely closed the door on potential future wrestling appearances, his primary focus is now on building his YouTube channel, where he shares stories and insights from his time in WWE. The full interview with Maven can be heard on the latest episode of insight with Chris Van Vliet.
