MÁV Reports disruptions on Budapest-Újszász-Szolnok Line
BUDAPEST, 2024-10-27 - Passengers traveling on the Budapest-Újszász-Szolnok railway line experienced important service disruptions Sunday morning following a power outage. Multiple trains were unable to commence or complete their scheduled routes, impacting travel plans for commuters and regional passengers.
The disruptions, first reported by MÁV Group at dawn, primarily centered around Nagykáta station, where train traffic was temporarily suspended. According to an official MÁV declaration, travelers should anticipate extended travel times, potential delays, and possible cancellations throughout the morning. The incident underscores the vulnerability of critical transportation infrastructure to unforeseen events and the cascading effects on daily commutes.
MÁV stated that trains were temporarily prohibited from stopping at Nagykáta, causing several services to wait for clearance. Passengers faced prolonged waiting periods and, in some instances, were required to seek choice transportation.
While scheduled service is being restored, MÁV cautioned that additional delays are possible during the morning rush hour. Further updates and information can be found on the MÁV Group website: https://www.mavcsoport.hu/mavinform/hajnali-fennakadas-ujszaszi-vonalon.
