Reality television personality Maura Higgins revealed a key element of her appearance on the recently concluded fourth season of NBC’s The Traitors: wigs. The Irish TV star, known for her role on Love Island and her stylish looks, explained in a recent interview with Interview Magazine that she relied on wigs to manage her naturally curly hair during filming in the Scottish Highlands.
Higgins, 35, described the challenges of maintaining her hair in the damp and often rainy conditions where the competition indicate is filmed. “I brought wigs to Traitors because my hair is so curly and it gets so frizzy, so that was the best thing I did in Traitors,” she said. She found the wigs particularly useful during outdoor missions, allowing her to quickly cover her hair with a beanie, complete the task, and then easily restyle her look with a wig.
Beyond the practical benefits, Higgins admitted she doesn’t spend a great deal of time styling her hair generally. “I’m not the best at styling my hair — I just don’t have patience. I have more fun doing my makeup than my hair,” she told Interview Magazine. She also noted she uses a root spray to cover gray hair, which she’s had since age 17, and occasionally uses a hair mask.
Higgins successfully navigated the complex social dynamics of The Traitors, reaching the final four faithfuls alongside fellow Islanders Rob Rausch, Johnny Weir, Tara Lipinski, and Mark Ballas. She evaded suspicion throughout the season, a feat she attributed in a previous interview with Glamour to a somewhat detached perspective. “When people are getting really intense in the game, I’m like, ‘Oh guys, it’s just a game,’” she said. She added that her primary concern was avoiding being “murdered” during the day so she could wear a particular outfit the following day.
Higgins also confessed to Glamour that she regretted not having watched previous seasons of The Traitors before filming, admitting she was “learning the game as I went along.” The fourth season of The Traitors concluded on Peacock on February 23, 2026, according to reporting from Deadline, with the winner revealed in a “super tense finale,” as described by Entertainment Weekly.
