Rhule Expresses Disappointment After Spring Game, Emphasizes Need for Consistent Performance
LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule voiced his disappointment with the outcome of saturday’s spring game, despite a final score of 35-32 in favor of the Red team. Rhule stressed that the program isn’t content with narrowly missing targets and needs to elevate overall consistency to compete at a higher level.
The spring game, held at Memorial Stadium – which boasts the nation’s longest consecutive sellout streak exceeding 400 games – served as a public debut for the team’s progress during spring practice. While acknowledging positive individual performances, Rhule indicated the team fell short of demonstrating the sustained execution required for success in the upcoming 2024 season. He specifically noted the team was “a couple plays away” from a different result, but isn’t accepting that as a standard.
“I’m disappointed with the result,” Rhule stated.”We were a couple plays away, but that’s not good enough. We’re not settling for that.”
The Huskers will now turn their focus to summer conditioning and fall camp as they prepare for the 2025 schedule, which includes home games against Colorado, Iowa, and Purdue. Details regarding game times will be released closer to the season.Fans can follow updates on Nebraska football through Nebraska Cornhuskers On SI, HuskerMax on YouTube, and HuskerMax.com.
