Matt Fitzpatrick Wins Valspar Championship: Inside His Winning Titleist GT3 Driver

March 24, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Matt Fitzpatrick secured his first PGA Tour victory since 2023 on Sunday, overcoming a disappointing finish at The Players Championship the previous week to win the 2026 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course. Fitzpatrick finished with a one-stroke lead over David Lipsky after a final-round 3-under 68.

Fitzpatrick’s triumph came after a heartbreaking loss at TPC Sawgrass, where a bogey on the final hole cost him the title. He acknowledged the difficulty of moving past that setback. “To lose it right at the death is always difficult to grab,” Fitzpatrick said, according to the Associated Press. “This week was key to get back on the horse and try and push myself to continue playing well.”

The final round saw a dramatic shift in the leaderboard, as overnight leader Sungjae Im struggled with a 2-over 74, including four bogeys in his first eight holes. Brandt Snedeker, also in contention, also faltered. This opened the door for Fitzpatrick and Lipsky to battle for the lead.

Fitzpatrick’s winning moment came on the 18th hole. After a 303-yard drive, he approached the green from 116 yards and landed his shot 14 feet from the pin. He then calmly sank the birdie putt to secure the victory. According to GOLF.com, Fitzpatrick’s driver – a Titleist GT3 – has been instrumental in his recent success, allowing him to average over 300 yards off the tee.

The Titleist GT3 driver features five adjustable weight locations designed to optimize performance based on a golfer’s swing. The club’s design incorporates a lightweight crown and split mass construction to enhance distance and directional control.

While Im and Snedeker struggled, Fitzpatrick navigated a challenging course, highlighted by a 30-foot birdie putt on the par-3 15th that briefly gave him the outright lead. Lipsky responded with a birdie on the par-5 14th, keeping the pressure on Fitzpatrick down the stretch.

Fitzpatrick’s victory marks a return to form for the 2022 U.S. Open champion, who had been seeking a breakthrough win after coming close at The Players Championship. The win at the Valspar Championship is his third career Tour title.
